The opening was good, if not great, but the part following the "years has passed" I had a hard time parsing. 50% good and 50% bad, but still meh since I haven't understood the whole text so… -1.

I love the premise here but beyond that there's nothing much here besides the setup, no real story to speak of. I agree with gaffsey that if this were a series of letters it could be much stronger.

Were I a woman of principle, I might find myself downvoting this. However, I actually really like this kind of short-form that crops up on the Library every so often. They capture character in a small space. It's a quirk of this place that I regard fondly.
