Hello there. After much investigation, the men in coats have assembled a list of all contest works, along with an appraisal for each of them. Remember that they are all sci-fi.
Articles below or barely at +5: Read these guys and vote + give feedback.
- “Plenty of Spaces”, by Remark Constantin—I personally think that it may be a little lacking in its own right regarding length and purpose, but it really does serve as a summary of one of the main themes in the contest. Give feedback and vote as needed.
- “A Quirk of Evolution”, by Avoid White Tiles—Humans are disgusting. Good read right here.
- “Schooling on Earth”, by Sebarus—A brochure-type page. Explores the topic of interstellar real estate.
- "From Planet To Planet", by margssentif—An excellent short story that describes a version of space colonization nicely. The story flows well and short, although the ending might seem too abrupt to some.
- "Curious Minds", by Malvarik1—Good story, with a much-needed touch of emotion. Kindness may flow a bit unrealistically here, but perhaps we all need to see kindness more often, and not just from overexcited aliens.
- "Regarding Existence Or Extinction", by Azmoeth Jikandia—No wonder one of the universe-creation theories was created by a priest…A simply told story with a nice ending.
- "More than 300", by Researcher Calloway—An entry with a chat and a mission. Paragraphing could seriously be improved, but check out the story anyway.
- "Take Another Shot", by Malvarik1—Perhaps a bit of dystopia, and definitely a glimpse of another world. Nice characterization.
- "All Rights Reserved", by Akhlys—Oooh, I like this one a lot because it involves two speakers at once and keeps the flow nicely. Some may find the activist plot too derivative, but I think the author put their own deal of thought into it.
- "Zero Sum Nature", by Cregan Stark does not match any existing user name—The word choice and initial premise is nice, although I find that the ending is cut a bit short. Regardless, it's a nice story of teamwork and colonization.
- "Jupition", by WanderingLibrarian does not match any existing user name—A small story about a flower, and posted early on in the contest. It might be too short, but the subject and plot is whimsical.
- ”Bodies Not Too Unlike Humanity”, by brandyomara—This was definitely one of the creepier and suspenseful ones of the bunch. The paragraphing is messed up, but give this a read if you have time; this is…interesting, and could definitely use more attention.
- “Whistling”, by Sebarus—A very well-done space-style “fairy tale”. Well-contained by the end and a nice read.
- “Not Recognized”, by OriCat—This is a medium-sized entry involving an AI (this is the most I can give without spoiling too much). There are some language errors in the narrative, but the computer and life science references and interesting characterization make up for it.
- “The Whoremongers of Misty Mountains”, by Bolterpyre—A display of some of the references in the hub page. Fulfilling in its own way.
- “Ice Kick”, by Nameless Mediocre—It’s not about the game, but rather a beginning. Everything seems a little confusing at first, but this short piece uses word choice and description to pull through.
- “Grab Hold of Their Sweethearts”, by issc—Mmm nice subversion here. The ending is somewhat cut down, but the twist is…Pleasant, in a sense. Short and simple read.
- “Everyone Only Suffers”, by WanderingLibrarian does not match any existing user name—A short read that mentions Whoremongerese military.
- “Beauty of the Blue Clad”, by Qrtngy—A well-crafted read in terms of language and description. The storyline is more piecemeal, although it somewhat resolves in the end. Very Interesting.
- “Dimorphism”, by Avoid White Tiles—Hilarious. A breezy and funny story told through chat.
- “World’s Shittiest Goblin”, by Sebarus—A quaint story told like a fairy tale. A fairy tale involving rockets and space. Storyline and pacing are very good here.
- “Key to a New World”, by margssentif—A little story with a lot of…self-reflection. Focuses on a somewhat disposable character.
- “The Family and the Home”, by MrRach does not match any existing user name—This is great. Includes the implications of immortality and new family.
Articles above +5: Pat these guys on the back, but really make sure to read those articles up there first ^^
- “Distance Yourself”, by MaliceAforethought—lol, I’m just going to quote M4FT here because he’s been enthusiastic about this short story in chat:
Friendly reminder that http://wanderers-library.wikidot.com/distance-yourself exists and is about mass murder, robots, sabotage, AI, placing your trust in employees, and getting away with crimes.
- “Interstellar Radio Channel 5”, by Lord Crunchy—One of the first articles, and by far the most successful. I highly recommend this read, as the lack of in-depth plot and original concepts that some may criticize are easily countered by the fact that it was posted so early on in the contest.
- "Cracked Plastic", by Malvarik1—This was one of the shorter drafts early on in the contest, and despite its short length and quick pace, the tale of an astronaut was handled nicely.
- "Purple One Eyed Space Snake", by Avoid White Tiles—Subtle and humorous, which was definitely something new to the contest prior to this article. Short with a twist.
- “Press Any Key to Continue”, by Malvarik1—Another great article about AI’s (and their rights).
- “Race From Outer Space”, by Azmoeth Jikandia—An easy read with good character. Reminiscent of Star Wars podracers.
- “Not Moved by the Flowers”, by JustARandomWriter—More robot feels with flashbacks. Another nice window into another world.
- ”Stirring Up a Commotion”, by Cregan Stark does not match any existing user name—A rebellion tale. A very long one, actually.
- ”Glowing and Blinking Buttons and Dials”, by issc—I personally liked this journal log with nice character. Some may find it derivative, but there really isn’t a lot of stuff like this here on the Library, and I know that the author worked hard on this first post.
- ”A New Shade of Sky”, by OriCat—The emotion here is so real, despite a distance stars and stars away…
- ”Ask the Universe Dad”, by margssentif—Dad is watching over you…Until he’s not.
- ”Photos From Another World”, by WanderingLibrarian does not match any existing user name—An introduction to a larger universe. There are grammar mistakes, but there is still something to be found.
- “The Ties You Have”, by OriCat—More beautiful emotion. It’s kind of like “realistic science fiction”.
- “Definitely Itching”, by Sebarus—Is it a bug bite? Is it sickness? Nope, it’s a—oh wait, you haven’t read it…Anyway, the plot itself could be lengthened a lot to be more fulfilling, but what’s already there shows promise for more.
- “Turn Off Gravity”, by Uncle Nicolini—A short humorous draft from the start of the contest. Quick humor is present.
