This is what happens when you have a vaguely D&D-sounding idea ("relic beasts"), and spend way too long sitting on it. This is also my first, but hopefully not last, entry for the current prompt. This was fun, I particularly enjoyed the narrators pov and the description of the creature. This kind of stuff is what the WL is all about.
