A Carcass Without Rot
rating: +9+x

A hundred miles from the Torrent's great flow,
Nearly swallowed by the dunes,
A great carcass lies, so vast,
It might well have once reached for Taá itself
But it reaches no longer,
A corpse shattered and broken
Yet no vultures circle, no flies swarm
No scent of decay carries, no flesh sags from its form
Amongst the sands, more skeletons rise,
Perhaps its children, perhaps its prey
It matters not which, for they perished with it
All the same
Here they will stay,
No scavengers shall feast upon them
None shall be nourished by it
None shall prosper by its decay
But they shall be consumed, not by living beings
But only by the desert winds
And so they will return to the sands
As all things shall
