One day the Moon hatched and
Reached far unto the star-strewn
Spatterings of the night sky.
Shattered eggshell carved the Earth
And splintered Hell to pieces.
Needle teeth chattering,
The thrashing of its unlearnt
Limbs and newly birthed cry blew
Venus, Jupiter; Saturn, all away.
Nowhere left to go, the starved infant
Turned to Sol. Forbidden from
His burning, hidden light
Skimmed the void-kissed eyes
Of the yet-to-be monstrosity.
"Why am I blind?" It asked the Sun.
Sol was silent.
When the Moon-child found Him
The white blanket of His supernova
Left no impression upon its sight.
And within the specks of Earth it sat
Alone and said to the ruins:
"I am your sun now."
