Welcome patrons new and old, it's that time of year once again for….

↬ ❄️THE FIFTH ANNUAL LIBRARY GIFT EXCHANGE ❄️↫

hosted by UncertaintyCrossing and zipzipskins! The Library is such an awesome community that it is an honor to be running this wonderful tradition yet again for y'all! And of course, many thanks to Zip for helping run it this year! In case you're not familiar, this is the Library's version of the Art Exchange hosted on our sister site, the SCP Wiki.

What is this?

It's a Secret Santa event! You sign up in this very thread, listing what you can offer and what you'd like to receive. We pair people up - you'll receive a private message from either Zip or I with who you're making a gift for. Check out their post in the thread, and make them a wonderful little present to bring the season together! This isn't a contest - it's a chill, relaxing event where, ideally, everyone comes out with a good time, good gift, and good memories. Check out the Yuletide Hub Page for examples of gifts from prior years!

What kinda gifts we talking?

Anything, really, provided a.) you created it, and b.) you can send it over the internet. The most common are art and writing. Remember that we tend to have more writers than artists - be sure to offer requests for both so that your gifter knows which direction to go in.
If you sign up, you're only required to make one gift for your assigned giftee. That being said, if you feel so inclined, you are welcome to make multiple for more than one person! Just please keep in mind the spirit of the holidays - this is not a contest, and everything is in good fun. Everyone has different schedules and skillsets, it's an honor to receive any sort of gift from this amazing community in the first place!

Awesome! How do I sign up?

Simply make a new post in this thread (do not reply to this post!) following the format below:

**What I Can Give:** [What you can give]

**What I Am Looking For:** [What you are looking for]

New to this year, we are requiring you to be more detailed/specific with what you want, and with what you can give. Please do not put "I can receive anything" or "I can write any kind of (prose/verse/ect)" when describing the above, especially if you haven't participated in Yuletide before! You will be asked via a forum reply to elaborate on what you can give/what you are looking for if we deem your request not specific enough. If you truly are happy with making/receiving anything, think about what you enjoy the most or would want to see more of or just what you're in the mood for! Anything helps, as while it may seem courteous to your prospective gifter to be open ended with what you want, it actually leaves them with no direction for their gift, making the process inadvertently more difficult. A genre, main theme, or a specific item/character/concept can be a great place to start. Additionally, if you are more specific with what you can give, it makes it easier on us to make sure everyone is happy in the gifts they get to make/work on too! Please be at least a little specific with your requests (while also being reasonable). Also, one cannot stress this enough:

Don't sign up if you are iffy on making the deadlines, laid out below!

If you know you're busy or something's coming up that interferes with your gift-making, you should probably abstain from participating. However, we understand if something unexpected emerges in your personal life that you could not have planned for and disrupts your Gift Exchange intentions. Should that occur, please:

1) Send an unfinished product at the deadline with the intention to finish it later, or…
2) Contact one of us ASAP about your situation, and we'll get a pinch-hitter on the case right away. More on that later!

Schedule?

First, have a brief overview:

Nov. 17th - Nov. 30th — Signing up.
Dec. 1st - Dec. 22nd — Making the gifts.
Dec. 22rd - Dec. 24th — Pinch-hitting.
Dec. 25th - Dec. 27th — Receiving gifts, wondering who made them.
Dec. 28th — Revealing the Secret Santas.
Anytime after Dec. 28th — Optionally posting gifts to the site.

For a more in-depth run-down…

+ show block

– hide block

Stage 1: Signing up (Nov. 17th - Nov. 30th)

From the time of this thread's posting to November 30th, 9 AM PST, one may follow the instructions above for signing up. A post on this thread will announce the end of sign-ups.

Stage 2: Making the gifts (Dec. 1st - Dec. 22nd)

Between the end of sign-ups and the start of December, we will assign every user a giftee. Sometime on the 1st, you'll receive a PM from one of us with the identity of the person you are to make a gift for. From then on, it's your responsibility to read your assigned user's post on this thread and make a gift for them.

Remember: The Gift Exchange is completely anonymous. Therefore, you don't want your giftee to know you made their gift. Upload your gifts onto an anonymous medium; artists often use Imgur to post their work anonymously, and writers often use either an anonymous Pastebin or a Sandbox page with the following CSS:

[[module css]] a#history-button, a#files-button { display: none!important; } [[/module]]

This removes the "History" and "Files" buttons from the bottom of the page, making the sandbox completely anonymous.
If you do end up having a question you need to ask your giftee in order to make the piece, send it to Zip or I and we can ask it on your behalf! If you need to seek crit on your piece, we recommend not posting it here in the crit forums and instead direct messaging folks.

When you have finished your gift and want to turn it in, simply send it to whichever one of us sent you your original assignment (either UncertaintyCrossing or zipzipskins) via a Wikidot PM with the title "Gift Exchange Gift For [Name of Giftee]" so we know who it's for, containing a link to your gift. You may send your gift at any time between December 1st and December 22nd, 9 AM PST — though obviously, the earlier the better.

As previously established, do not ghost the Art Exchange. If you can't finish your gift in-time, please let us know! Things happen, but not letting anyone know makes it substantially more difficult for everyone. We won't hold it against you or hold any ill will - we would rather you be honest and upfront than ghost everything all together. Please see the pinch-hitting and blacklist section for more details.

Stage 2.5: Pinch-Hitting (Dec. 22nd - Dec. 24th)

During this stage, pinch-hitters (to be explained later) will work on gifts for anyone whose gifters have disappeared. It may be an unfinished draft, but giftees will at least get something. Saving the holidays and whatnot.

Stage 3: Receiving gifts, wondering who made them (Dec. 25th - Dec. 28th)

Sometime on Christmas Day, you will receive a PM from UncertaintyCrossing or zipzipskins with your gifter's gift! It is encouraged that you post it on this thread, and let others enjoy it with you! Remember to keep everything anonymous until the big reveal.

Stage 4: Revealing the Secret Santas (Dec. 29th)

On this date, everyone's gifters and giftees will be revealed in a giant list. Rejoice!

Stage 5: Optionally posting gifts to the site. (Anytime after Dec. 29th)

If you'd like, you can post your works onto the site itself once names have been revealed. Remember to update the Yuletide Hub Page as well!

Pinch-Hitting

Pinch-Hitters will make a gift for someone when the original gifter cannot follow through. This will mostly come into play between gift submissions and distributions, though a Pinch-Hitter will be called in anytime a gifter says they cannot fulfill their request, giving the Pinch-Hitter more time to fill in. However, a Pinch-Hitter must be prepared to work under very restrictive timelines, down to 48 hours.

Only sign up as a Pinch-Hitter if you're very confident in your skills under pressure. Your application as a Pinch-Hitter may be turned down if we do not share your confidences. It's a bit harsh, but necessary to ensure everyone gets their gift in full-confidence. If you have interest in the position, simply state so on your sign-up post here!

Blacklist

The Library is not implementing a blacklist this year; which is to say, even if you did not finish your gift last year, you'll be allowed to participate in the Gift Exchange this year. That said, we will be continuing our soft check-in system implemented last year — meaning that if you did not finish your gift last year, you may be contacted by one of the organizers and asked to clarify what happened then and if it's likely to occur again this year/if there are any steps you're taking to address it and ensure you get your gift in on-time this year. If you can't provide a satisfying assurance, we may elect to deny your participation in this year's Gift Exchange. We understand this isn't fun and don't want to spoil anyone's season, but we're just trying our best to make sure everyone wakes up on the big day to many gifts on their doorstep!

Reminders:

Don't ghost the exchange. Please, if you can't make it, send a PM to the organizers beforehand. When you skip out, everyone suffers.

It's called Secret Santa! Don't reveal yourself to your giftee, and if you know something, don't let anyone in on it! Secrecy is part of the fun!

Keep it jolly and festive! Don't intentionally make a gift that goes against the giftee's wishes, or otherwise knowingly make something bad.

Try to keep requests and gifts age-appropriate for the site. If you wouldn't post it on the site or in chat, consider choosing to request or make something else that still fulfills the giftee's wants but is more appropriate.

Please be detailed in your requests of both what you can give, and what you'd like to receive as a gift!

❄️ HAPPY HOLIDAYS, WANDERERS! ❄️

Welcome back, or just welcome if you're new! This is the fourth iteration of the Serpentine Sorting System, rules and details to be found here.

It's been quite a while since TitanClash LIVE all the way back in June 2023, but with new year(s) comes new opportunities for creative settings!

Rules/How to use this thread: Every person may submit a maximum of two prompts. Prompts should be 1 sentence in length max, and should not go into extreme detail. Something general like "A world where robots and humans live in social tension" or "Crab World" are best. Details will be fleshed out in the second stage of the event. The suggestion period will close on March 2, 11:59 Pacific Standard Time OR whenever we hit 64 prompts total, whichever comes first.

I'll get us started with two suggestions.

1. The Old Gods are still with us, in a way. Just now used as batteries and computers.

2. Twenty random locations on Earth (along with the humans within them) are plucked from its surface and deposited into an endless expanse of ocean , forming a new archipelago.

Please number your suggestions sequentially. This is for ease on staff's part of keeping track of where we are in the process. For example, I gave suggestions 1 and 2. The person who posts after me, providing they give two prompts, will label theirs 3 and 4. Next will be 5 and 6, and so on. Please do not reply to this message specifically; create a new post within the thread.

Remember, this is a collaboration, not a contest. It's not about having the best idea or winning anything, it's about working together to create something cool.

Good luck and have fun!

Saving the holidays and whatnot.

Stage 3: Receiving gifts, wondering who made them (Dec. 25th - Dec. 28th)

Sometime on Christmas Day, you will receive a PM from UncertaintyCrossing with your gifter's gift!

That said, we will be implementing a soft check-in system — meaning that if you did not finish your gift last year, you may be contacted by one of the organizers and asked to clarify what happened then and if it's likely to occur again this year/if there are any steps you're taking to address it and ensure you get your gift in on-time this year.

It's that time of year again! Welcome for our new members and welcome back for our regulars, to the

↬🎄 THIRD ANNUAL LIBRARY GIFT EXCHANGE 🎄↫

hosted by Rounderhouse and UncertaintyCrossing! This is shaping up to be an awesome holiday tradition for this wonderful community, and we couldn't be happier running it for you guys. In case you're not familiar, this is our version of the Art Exchange hosted on our sister site, the SCP Wiki.

What is this?

It's a Secret Santa event! You sign up in this very thread, listing what you can offer and what you'd like to receive. I pair people up - you'll receive a private message from me with who you're making a gift for. Check out their post in the thread, and make them a wonderful little present to bring the season together! This isn't a contest - it's a chill, relaxing event where, ideally, everyone comes out with a good time, good gift, and good memories.

What kinda gifts we talking?

Anything, really, provided a.) you created it, and b.) you can send it over the internet. The most common are art and writing. Remember that we tend to have more writers than artists - be sure to offer requests for both so that your gifter knows which direction to go in.

Awesome! How do I sign up?

Simply make a new post in this thread (do not reply to this post!) following the format below:

**What I Can Give:** [What you can give]

**What I Am Looking For:** [What you are looking for]

Do not put "I can receive anything!", or something to that effect, under "What I Am Looking For". While it may seem courteous to your prospective gifter, it actually leaves them with no direction for their gift, making the process inadvertently more difficult.

We're reasonable. Provided that occurs:

1) Send an unfinished product at the deadline with the intention to finish it later, or…
2) Contact Rounderhouse or UncertaintyCrossing ASAP about your situation, and we'll get a pinch-hitter on the case right away. More on that later!

Schedule?

First, have a brief overview:

Nov. 17th - Nov. 30th — Signing up.
Dec. 1st - Dec. 22nd — Making the gifts.
Dec. 22rd - Dec. 24th — Pinch-hitting.
Dec. 25th - Dec. 27th — Receiving gifts, wondering who made them.
Dec. 28th — Revealing the Secret Santas.
Anytime after Dec. 28th — Optionally posting gifts to the site.

For a more in-depth run-down…

+ show block

– hide block

Stage 1: Signing up (Nov. 17th - Nov. 30th)

From the time of this thread's posting to November 30th, 8 AM EST, one may follow the instructions above for signing up. A post on this thread will announce the end of sign-ups.

Stage 2: Making the gifts (Dec. 1st - Dec. 22nd)

Between the end of sign-ups and the start of December, we will assign every user a giftee. Sometime on the 1st, you'll receive a PM from Rounderhouse or UncertaintyCrossing with the identity of the person you are to make a gift for.

When you have finished your gift and want to send it, simply send Rounderhouse or UncertaintyCrossing a Wikidot PM with the title "Gift Exchange Gift For [Name of Giftee]" so we know who it's for, containing a link to your gift. You may send your gift at any time between December 1st and December 22nd, 8 AM EST — though obviously, the earlier the better.

As previously established, do not ghost the Art Exchange. If you can't finish your gift in-time, please let us know! Things happen, but not warning us makes it substantially more difficult for everyone. Please see the pinch-hitting and blacklist section for more details.

Stage 2.5: Pinch-Hitting (Dec. 22nd - Dec. 24th)

During this stage, pinch-hitters (to be explained later) will work on gifts for anyone whose gifters have disappeared.

Hello and welcome back to the third Serpentine Sorting System! Rules and details can be found here.

The last time we did this was with Vitalis LLC back in November of 2021, but we're finally back and ready for a third helping.

Rules/How to use this thread: Every person may submit a maximum of two prompts. Prompts should be 1 sentence in length max, and should not go into extreme detail. Something general like "A world where humans and aliens live in social tension" or "Lobster World" are best. Specific details will be fleshed out in the second stage of the event, however, remember that these prompts are the jumping-off point for an entire canon, so get creative! The suggestion period will close on June 19th 11:59 PM British Summer Time (BST) OR whenever we hit 64 prompts total, whichever comes first.

Here are my two suggestions:

1) Humanity awakens all at once from cryogenic sleep to discover planet Earth covered in new ruins; remnants of an unknown civilisation not present before the great sleep, and now, long gone.
2) It is a misconception that prayers go unanswered, they are simply redirected to the nearest available god - or otherwise - to be answered at their discretion, whatever that may be…

Hope you enjoy it when it comes out!)

Hello hello, welcome back to the SECOND ANNUAL LIBRARY GIFT EXCHANGE, hosted by Rounderhouse and UncertaintyCrossing! Last year was such a great time it only seems fair to do it once more, and give all our new friends an opportunity to participate — hopefully starting a new holiday tradition!

Simply make a new post in this thread following the format below:

**What I Can Give:** [What you can give]

**What I Am Looking For:** [What you are looking for]

Do not put "I can receive anything!", or something to that effect, under "What I Am Looking For". While it may seem courteous to your prospective gifter, it actually leaves them with no direction for their gift, making the process inadvertently more difficult. Please be at least a little specific with your requests (while also being reasonable). Also, one cannot stress this enough:

Don't sign up if you are iffy on making the deadlines, laid out below!

If you know you're busy or something's coming up that interferes with your gift-making, you should probably abstain from participating. However, we understand if something unexpected emerges in your personal life that you could not have planned for and disrupts your Art Exchange intentions.

From then on, it's your responsibility to read your assigned user's post on this thread and make a gift for them.

Remember: The Art Exchange is completely anonymous.

If you can't finish your gift in-time, just let us know! Absolutely no shame. But not letting anyone know makes it harder for everyone.

Stage 2.5: Pinch-Hitting (Dec. 22nd - Dec. 24th)

During this stage, pinch-hitters (to be explained later) will work on gifts for anyone whose gifters have disappeared. It may be an unfinished draft, but giftees will at least get something. Saving Christmas and whatnot.

Stage 3: Receiving gifts, wondering who made them (Dec. 25th - Dec. 28th)

Sometime on Christmas Day, you will receive a PM from Rounderhouse or UncertaintyCrossing with your gifter's gift! We encourage you to post it on this thread, and let others enjoy it with you! Remember to keep everything anonymous until the big reveal.

Stage 4: Revealing the Secret Santas (Dec. 29th)

On this date, we will reveal everyone's gifters and giftees in a giant list. Rejoice!

Stage 5: Optionally posting gifts to the site. (Anytime after Dec. 29th)

If you'd like, post your works onto the site itself once we've revealed the names!

Pinch-Hitting and Friendly Reminders

Pinch-Hitters will make a gift for someone when the original gifter cannot follow through. This will mostly come into play between gift submissions and distributions, though we'll call a Pinch-Hitter in anytime a gifter says they cannot fulfill their request, giving the Pinch-Hitter more time to fill in. However, a Pinch-Hitter must be prepared to work under very restrictive timelines, down to 48 hours.

Only sign up as a Pinch-Hitter if you're very confident in your skills under pressure. We may turn down your application as a Pinch-Hitter if we do not share your confidences. It's a bit harsh, but necessary to ensure everyone gets their gift in full-confidence. If you have interest in the position, simply state so on your sign-up post here!

Thank you to Elenee FishTruck for letting me borrow her instructions! Anyway, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, WANDERERS!
