gosh this is just wonderful! this work just sparks so much imagination due to, not only the flora and fauna themselves, but the commentary from the other narrators to all the lore just mentioned in passing like its a well known thing. i cant find the words to express how much i love this. it kinda makes me wish there were actual collaborative works like this, with others allowed to add their own little notes and such.

Love this. The worldbuilding is great. The mentions of other creatures living in the Library (Watermelon Giants, anyone?) add a lot of depth and make the Library truly feel like a magical ecosystem. Parcoon is easily my favorite, and his inclusion alone is enough to make me want to hunker down in the Library for a few weeks to hang out with the guy. Great job on this, UC's art and Avalon's sounds tie the whole piece together. It's full of love, and I'm happy I got to ready it.

It's a personal peev of mine when good sound design goes un-acknowledged, so I'll cover it.

The sound design is fantastic! Feels real, it feels like it has context, and not once did I find myself thinking "oh I know what that originally was". I was just enjoying. So fantastic sound work, and I look forward to more.

It's like a Monster's Manual for the shelves, or an Almanac! It reminds me a lot of an SCP. I loved the book-units, and basically everything about this.

Just the parcoon itself makes this worth a vote, but in general it's just magnificent to read and I really enjoyed reading about each creature, it's characteristics and how the diferent narrators perceives them. Maybe I would like to see more native creatures to the Library, rather than just 1 creature that stayed because there was free food, but that's just me nitpicking to something already phenomenal which contains sound, humor and worldbuilding that makes you curious about the inhabitants from the Library and what more there is to it. Really looking forward to the Second Volume!

aaa that was great! thoroughly enjoyable - the use of other narrators worked really well to inject humor and voice, and i straight up adore the worldbuilding in this. its fantastic, and exactly the image of the Library in my head. wonderful stuff.

First things first, a note from all of us - We recommend headphones for the sounds. Go get your glasses to read and admire the pretty sketches. Don't be stubborn.

Okay with that out of the way, Team RVUS is back! This time with the start of what will hopefully be a series, Field Guide to the Shelves. [Sebarus and Avelon21 are lovely to work with, Hili helped with the writing and team morale while Avelon helped with both the writing and wonderful SFX. I was on writing and art, as expected.

Sounds and art are both released under CC, art was made by me and SFX made by Avelon but additional credits will be added shortly.

Please enjoy! If you have any suggestions for staff variants, which will hopefully be the next volume, please let us know!
