I like this one. Gotta agree that the poetry format sort of doesn't lends itself to the piece, and I feel it would have benefited from something different, but the story presented here was still fun to read through. +1

I agree with min and Kat above that this doesn't really justify its haiku structure. I think there's certainly a better way to convey the information, even while still remaining poetry.

That said, I like the narrative, and what it adds to your small, carved-out niche of canon.

I can't really see any reason why this should be a poem… The haiku format does nothing and just makes the line breaks awkward, almost to the point of laughability. I suspect the haiku format also isn't giving you the room to really play and go ham with language in the way that the epic does, or other more experimental forms.

There's some neat stuff here, but the haiku structure feels arbitrary, and fairly unsuited for conveying what is otherwise a very standard sort of narrative about stuff happening in the Library. Maybe if the poetic structure was used more to emphasize the non-human perspective and thought processes of the Library it would feel more justified, but as it stands this is a downvote.

Y'know it had never occurred to me that you could string multiple haikus together into something longer, and this is very cool for that. Rest in pepperonis Rounderpede, +1 to pay respects

My entry for theme 2, "Alien Invasion". It takes place directly where Home Bittersweet Home (or Free as a Bird) left off. I had a lot of fun with the haiku structure1

Footnotes

1. Two stanzas have an extra syllable in them, but I can't fix it until the contest ends.
