Hmmmm, yeah, kinda have to agree with Maft. Not on the reference part, necessarily, but on that feeling of hasty and cheap that emanates from the piece. It is a parody, obviously, but it doesn't feel like a good parody; it may be that the comedy of the piece doesn't really tickle my fancy, or how hamfisted the whole 'parody' of an alien invasion it feels while at it, but it just didn't strike me as an entertaining article. I don't think it's a bad one, but it's not particularly fun to read.

There's a lot to like about this, but you really bog down your own creativity with halfhearted references to Futurama — which, although a wonderful source of parody, doesn't really work as a twice-removed reference. I think if you committed to making this its own thing it could really stand out; as it is, it feels bit too hasty and cheap.

This piece is hugely inspired by The Twilight Zone, and also The Scary Door, from Futurama. A rather literal take on Alien Invasion, but one that's hopefully enjoyable nonetheless.

Until a few hours ago, this was a quarter-done and I wasn't intending on entering this round of the contest. It's current 2AM local time, and I've got to be up for work in 5 hours, but I'm glad I got this written and posted. Huge thank you to Pedagon for their, as always, immensely helpful critique and proof reading.
