I get the confusion about the AI part. The reason why it's kind of a two for one deal here is that this was written for Wandercon and the AI was my team's author. But I definitely do understand feeling like the slice of life part could've been its own story. As for the corny dialogue and footnotes and stuff, I attribute that to writing this in a frenzy before the Wandercon deadline and basically coldposting lol. I feel like I could polish it up, but at the same time, I like keeping it like this as a memory of the contest. Maybe one day I'll get around to it.

And of course, thanks for the kind words rounder. Reading comments like these really makes me appreciate writing and the effect my stories can have. Gonna go read Tempest now so watch out for a comment on that.

Goddamn, that sure was something. I’ll be upfront in that I don’t totally understand what the surrounding framing story was about — an AI in space, sent into the stars, driven mad by loneliness? I found the footnotes a little corny, but that’s alright. This, like your other works, excels in creating a believable, complex relationship between believable, complex characters, even though we’re only ever given the most fleeting glance into their minds and lives. Io felt relatable and his relationship with Eva was painted through very talented, mood-setting prose and atmospheric imagery. I honestly think it would’ve been really nice even removed from the AI story, but they elevate each other. Definitely gonna recommend this to some folks. Great stuff.

Someone will write a happy ending for her one day, and that will be a wonderful day indeed. As for now, I loved this one, what a crazy way to end it, with Semliel creating her own story and then it not being enough? So good, very haunting.

Sincerely love your style of writing. This was a very compelling piece that kept me hooked till the end. As Maxyfran said, the intertwined nature of this piece was incredibly well done and an easy upvote. Keep up the good work!

Fuck. Fuck that was good. The mix between existential dread and even horror and the calmness of the narrative bits were so good, so well intertwined. This immediately shot up as one of my favorite single articles for this con so far. Just… This was so emotionally investing, god.

This really meant a lot to me. I really wanted to stop writing after the 2nd image, because it was such a perfect ending, but I thought I should continue. Very pleased with how it turned out.
