Yeah, I just didn’t want to make the story any longer than it’d already run and I had already included one magical explanation blurb for the Surface Dust. So the exact mechanics of the voodoo bucket were a casualty.

Essentially, when you put something into the tiny clay bucket, exactly one second later a full-size invisible, intangible container forms around whatever the source of that thing was, as long as there’s nothing in the way. It maintains its position and orientation relative to the thimble exactly as it was when it was formed, so it’s kind of finicky, like an over sensitive gyroscopic controller.

Also, anything told from Rivsk’s point of view is going to be a little harder to grasp, both because he only knows archaic units of measurement and also he’s just a little out there.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I’ve been sitting on this for years, I’m really glad people seem to be enjoying it.

With the nostalgia hit of more Ravelwoods content and the absolutely stellar character work, this was a joy to read. My only halfway real criticism is that the mechanics of the "voodoo bucket" were a bit confusing, and could maybe have been more clearly conveyed assuming it wasn't the intended effect.

For Sorrow was one of the first articles I ever read on the Wanderers' Library and it perfectly encapsulated the magic and wonder of the worlds beyond the scope of the Foundation. I am so, so very happy to see the following chapter is just as excellent.

I know, I know, it's been six years and I only have five pages. But when you average out the time I actually spent writing this… uh….

…I just hope all my characters got enough room to really reintroduce themselves.
