Writing characters isn't something I always enjoy, but seem to do a lot of regardless, lmao.

My first contribution to the site was writing a Parcoon story as a gift for UncertaintyCrossing which was just an off handed joke that spiraled out of control into a multipart series. As such, the tubby lil rodent will always have a place in my heart for giving me the motivation to really start writing and leading me to where I am today.

Dr Ray is my first character that I actually made that I've done a substantial amount of writing for. Writing those first aid pieces is always fun as it lets me explore a peppier tone that most of my other pieces don't tend to have while also getting creative with the format. Writing these letters and , in turn, contributing new Library lore beyond just a new story is a really good feeling.

If I had to give another character that wasn't mine, I'd say the Duke stories were always a fun read. Like that cynical ass of a lizard.

Marsh, straight up.

I really love everything about this character, both his gritty, sarcastic and dead-beat personality that mixes seriousness and humor so well and his whole vibes, the noir detective combined with more conventional dark magic aesthetics he has going on is something that works really well. CadaverCommander did an amazing job writing him, and I'm always eager to read more content regarding this asshole! (affectionate).

My favorite character on the site is far and away The Tramp. I think a big reason for this is nostalgia for California, and the kind of experiences you have on the road there, something that is near and dear to my heart. As well, the writing talent involved in all stories involving The Tramp definitely sweetens the deal for me. In fact, stories such as Ramblings of a Retired Tramp have shaped the way I write, as it influenced the structure and plot of Atlas' Burden.

Hmm. I think my favorite characters on the site is a bit of a weird question since I tend to focus more on plots and stuff than characters, but I've always had a real fondness for is Lady Juanita Del Rio. She's got a real voice to her that I've always liked and is a bit in the awkward between-spot between the old Library heyday and the Reshelving, so I appreciate her in a sense that there wasn't really anything like her being written on the site (or much of anything at all, lol.)

Beyond that, I think Cyrus Pligmolon, to the extent that he counts as a character, was an incredibly strong showing during the Wandercon and created a decidedly weird character that I like a lot. I don't know much these have inspired by my own writing but they're definitely some of the more fun characters I've vibed with in Library works.

Hello!

Continued from our last thread, we're doing biweekly discussions on anything and everything related to the Library and the authors that comprise it (that's you guys!). This week, our prompt is:

What are you some of your favorite characters on the site? This could be for characters that have been written about just once or ones with whole series. Why are they your favorites? Have these characters inspired you in your own writings?

—submitted by Snapdragon133

Discuss! And remember: if you have an idea for a discussion prompt, submit it here and it may be used in future threads!
