I love this! Alagadda's one of those guilty pleasures of mine, so seeing a poem of this caliber based off it is extremely appreciated.

+1~

Ooh, nicely done! I am new here and I guess I wasn't expecting poetry which is my go to genre because its concise with that immediate gratification - but am stoked to find this on only my second read of posts. Love the timing, the ryhmes - very bardlike. Well penned.

i'm a dude who doesnt think about alagadda at all and who read some scps about it years ago and like. it didn't implant whatsoever. that said i think this poem is very compelling. your execution on the structure is pretty flawless, both conventionally and stylistically. also, just like clowm said, the imagery really works in your favor. something else that i think slaps is the way the dialogue works. i find that the conceit of poetic dialogue typically leads to almost-unreadable levels of stiltedness but you really managed to make it move line into line and i was able to absorb it without being taken out of my suspension of disbelief, which is really quite something. +1

the old styles of verse are generally not my favorites, but this flows very well and has some evocative imagery. i'm particularly fond of likening tree branches to the hair of a maiden.

This is something I've been cooking for a while. It got sidelined by the contest, but I still managed to finish it and show it to my Creative Writing class. A while back, I was inspired to make this when it struck me how fitting it would be to write a poem about Alagadda in Dante Alighieri's terza rima structure. Side note: writing in iambic pentameter is difficult.

My sincere thanks to Carolynn on here as well as my IRL classmates for critique and advice!
