i wrote this first piece in a couple hours as a way to pass time. my goal was to do an improvisational thing with at most four tracks and minimal editing, to best capture the spirit of live performance. i hope to add more tracks to this in coming days, and if others wish to add musical pieces of their own, feel free! thanks for listening :>

I'm leaving with a no-vote as of right now (I might change my opinion to be honest), because it sounds a little disjointed and messy; the guitar, or that other stringed instrument (not the piano) seems to be a little off-beat in the middle of the track. I definitely think it's interesting overall how you put this together, and I'm excited to see what you come up with next!

Do you mean that others can add to this same page (and make it a collaboration page)? Also, what software did you use to edit everything together, if you don't mind me asking?

the other stringed instrument is a mandocello! and i tried to record in as few takes as possible so I ultimately decided to keep the parts that i flubbed. personally, i like that it's a little unpolished and improvisational, but it certainly is a matter of taste.

yes! if anyone desired to, they could totally add pieces of their own! as long as the pieces match the general concept of "live show by random musicians in the library" it works for me!
Also, what software did you use to edit everything together, if you don't mind me asking?
for this first piece, i overdubbed tracks on ableton live, and the piano was the "Alicia's Keys" vst by native instruments. i used a little stock reverb and EQ, and that's about that.
et voila! care to listen to a human and a golem play guitar together?
two days in a row of stringed instruments. for the next track, i think i'll do something more ambient/synth-y!

For some odd reason, I'd keep seeing this page under the Collaboratives and avoiding it, and I couldn't remember why. Maybe it was the fact that the first thing I saw was that it was made up of audio files, so perhaps I thought that it wasn't something I wanted to hear even though I hadn't listened to it, or maybe I'd been browsing on my phone the first time and I didn't want to play the audio aloud.
I decided to come back again today anyway and listen to the first song. It absolutely pulled on my heartstrings and I teared up a bit. Then I decided to listen to the next one. And then I just wanted to listen to all of them, really.
If I knew how to play an instrument or create a proper song on my computer, I would find a way to contribute, but instead I'll have to settle for trying to find the best way to put across how much I love everything about the music on this page. I'm looking forward to more.
i know i'm a few months late to reply to this but thank you. i'm really glad it affected you like that, it really means so much.
is it possible? have i done it? yes! i have finally posted another serpentsong. this one was recorded very plainly on my 12-string acoustic guitar, in bed, and yes, one of the strings is broken. the guitar's name is bruce.
i have also re-arranged the page such that the newest pieces come first! this should help draw visibility to new works, and hopefully should encourage more people to contribute their lovely lovely music!
i haven't listened to all of them yet, but i love the concept you've come up with. i love a "multimedia" sort of thing, and it doesn't feel cheesy as those things sometimes can be. i'll have to keep my eye out for updates to this. very good job! +1
