In case someone that doesn't know what an AA (Author Avatar) is and stumbles upon this, your AA is pretty much the main protagonist/narrator you use for your stories, or it can also be a normal OC you just want to put in the Wanderers' universe!

The title and summary already say enough, how did you create your main poster boy for your wonderful stories here? And what are your main inspirations for them?

For example, my AA, Maw, is simply just a sona/self insert of mine in the SCP/WL in-verse. I was talking and joking around with a good friend of mine about ourselves in an SCP related scenario, and the rabbit hole went too deep.
Because of this, Maw is supposed to represent a part of my personality, or well, the most chaotic part, exagerating some of my behaviours as well as making a 180º on my habits (for example, they like booze and are an insomniac, and I fall asleep in less than five minutes and the only alcoholic drink I can swallow without gagging is soft cider).

As for inspirations, they're inspired on me if it counts? Or an idealized "God I wish that were me" version, specially body and aspect wise. Personality wise a bit on myself too, as I have said. And their more "tough cookie" bits I do not have As well as the huge ass daddy issues are more inspired on both Jolyne Cujoh from Jojo's Part 6 and Ruth Langmoore from Ozark.

So, I think my AA avatar started with the title of my sandbox: Professor Volek's Compendium of Mysterious Pieces and Tales. At first it was just sorta a fun way to like in-universe explain how all my pieces fit into one book; a dude going around and collecting these stories. The name 'Volek' is one I've used in lots of stories before, I've always sorta liked the sound of it. Eventually I began to think more about expanding on who this guy was that was compiling the stories I wrote. I was like, "Hey wouldn't it be funny if he got trapped in a skeleton body because of a Way disturbance?" and rolled with that. He sorta just became this goofy skeleton patron with no discernible past that sorta exists to compile stories and mess with the Staff. I do want to expand on him some more in due time, especially concerning his ties with the supposed 'Derosena University.'

If we're looking at it from a psychological standpoint: Volek is the shitposting aspect of me but skeleton.

Well, I'm having a bit of trouble with all the sandbox writing, but here I go… I have two main ones.
Dr. Lunaris is my fursona set in the FoundationVerse, and is considering switching allegiances and joining The Wanderers. Haven't built much on this yet lmao.

Loonarys Eklyps, or Loona, is my OC in an AU I call "Funkin' Densetsu", which is basically FNF x Sailor Moon. My SM OC Kyokan, fuses with Garcello's ghost to become Loona, and they can fuse/separate at will. Gar is a Sailor Senshi in this AU, called Sailor Orpheus. Kyokan is Sailor Echo.

I think UncertaintyCrossing drew a piece with his two OCs, Owlpede and Ayman, and chat at the time just suddenly decided that Owlpede resembled me. And then Crossing responded by drawing a piece of what he coined as the Rounderpede, a gigantic centipede-thing that looked like my profile picture, and the rest is history.

I designed my AA, known for now only as "The Curator," to be, in essence, an abstraction of my personality whose only, and I mean only, focus is music. The real me pretty much spends most of his time doing music anyway, and tends to forsake empathy in favour of logic and focus on the task at hand. So The Curator, then, is a shell of a personality when you remove all of me except that stuff, and amplify what's left to fill the space, positives and negatives and all.

UncertaintyCrossing, who made some fantastic art of The Curator, has taken to calling me "just a :) in a hood" and similar, and that's a surprisingly good description of what the character is. He thinks of just about everything in musical terms, first of all. A nearby conversation becomes a beautiful duet. The beating of a heart becomes a stoic march. A march of life, though The Curator may have just torn open the chest of its owner in order to hear it better. He's always extremely polite, if a little old fashioned. But there's no space in that cloak for sadness or remorse or anything except whatever his current musical fascination is.

Since the character came before the story, unlike many of the other avatars you'll see, I was able to design him with literally potential in mind. Drop him into the Wanderer's Library as an Adventurer-by-Circumstance, and you get a dangerously singleminded individual which, as a character, allows me to at any time tell stories about music and horror and magic and everything in between. He's not bad, he's certainly not good, he just is.

The closest thing I have to an author avatar is Ali Kamelov, who, whatever the setting, died approximately twelve years before the start of the story. He is known to all or at least some characters in any given story, but no one feel compelled to bring him up, because why would you bring up that someone you knew once died over a decade ago?

My reasoning was that I thought it would be funny to have a character whose primary characterization is that he is long since dead.

My AA, Francis Barnabus Pann, first sort of came into being when I was on a road trip. I was doodling and I drew this little Cthulhu-y guy. I did a few drawings of this weird, chubby eldritch horror guy in various places looking depressed. He didn't have a name at that point, nor any further ideas or aspirations to his character besides being a sad Cthulhu man. Then, at some point or another, I found the WL website and joined the discord, and I realized other people had Author Avatars, so I figured I would make one too. And who would've guessed it, but I had a ready made character to just pop in. I think I came up with the name Frank because it was so basic and boring, which is kind of what I wanted for a guy who looks like Cthulhu. The last name Pann comes from my Wikidot name cause I originally joined SCP, and Doctor Pann was open. Oh, I also molded Frank around myself a little, like his somewhat rude humor or being overly vulgar in some situations, just to make it a self-insert. Oh, and (Dr Whitney) does not match any existing user name drew my pfp which has basically become the current standard of what Frank looks like. There is more to Frank's character, but it has yet to be revealed in an article, so no spoilies.

Funny story, I actually used to cosplay as a plague doctor. Ambrose’s original design (laws based on my own cosplay (even know, it draws elements from it, like the Black Parade-esque tailcoat). I wanted to make him undead but thought a vampire was too … expected??? Do I just made him a zombie. I built his lore from there.

Thanks for clarifying. My first AA, Margova Isulde, is inspired a lot by the story of Drizzt Do'Urden in the Forgotten Realms world in DnD. I write it as a projection of my mentality and what I think it might be if I went down a different path. Margova is a dark elf who has grown tired of the killing after he crosses his one moral line, leading him to question everything. He decides to leave and go to the surface. What he will find is anyone's guess. That's about all I have for his story, but what I do know is that he becomes immortal and eventually marries a goddess. That's how it'll eventually end.

Onyx Winter is another possible AA. He is my Traveller, my wanderer of the planes. He is a bipedal feline, like a Tabaxi (in my world, the males are called Felinor, and the females, Felina) He wakes up on a surgical table in a dark room, confused. He remembers nothing at all of his life. What he doesn't know is that he's a literal walking corpse. It's not blood in his veins, but liquid amethyst, and his organs are prosthetic as well. He has to figure out who he is, and find out who's voice is speaking in his head, cause it sure isn't his.

My AA "Dr. Alexander Avenlee" was originally created as a scientist for the SCP universe, inspired by other prominent authors like Clef, Gears, Mann etc. However, due to me being born late, I couldn't join the SCP wiki. So I joined the Wanderers Library. My character here is actually a curious jailor who found his way into the library seeking knowledge about "The origin of anomalies" which is his primary goal in life. Dr. Avenlee is a very low profile patron of the library. Here, he got inspired by other authors and started writing stories which created the "Dr. Avenlee's Archives".

The name "Avenlee" means someone with a creative bend of mind.

He's an artist, author and a brilliant scientist.
He has a really tragic backstory though.

My AA is actually inspired by my first ever username that I made as a kid, which was something along the likes of "blueskitty195", as in Skitty from Pokemon. His name is Estell E. Finselbach, and, as you guessed it, he's a blue Skitty. His backstory is pretty corny, but I love him—he's a glitched shiny Skitty who achieved sentience and made his way to the Wanderer's Library to try to find identity and purpose. He's also a system/has DID like me, but a fictionalized version, wherein his glitchyness and search for identity leads to him copying personality traits from people and characters he runs into. This is because my system has a lot of introjects (alters based off of comforting/traumatizing people and characters to cope with trauma), but as how there isn't much common knowledge about DID, this has led to me not being taken as seriously by professionals, especially in my country where mental health education isn't as refined.
