So while I was looking over some stuff, I came across the Groups of Intrigue page, and read about the Magpies. "Oh, this sounds like an interesting concept I could play with!", I thought, and then proceeded to not read anything else and only remember the word Magpie. And that's the story of the birth of this entry, more or less.
So I'll admit at first I was really skeptical, silly me thinking this was trying to give human origins to the Library.
I liked it, the willingness/determination of the author to stick with humans and the King's greed to be the last remaining piece of human history are angering, but beautiful, in a way.

Glad you liked it, and that you were angered (To a healthy degree, I hope) by the piece. I tried to make it a tad conflicting, a clash between the main character's ethos and the situation at hand. Tianhong has a duty, and said duty cannot be broken, for better or worse.
As for the King's greed, it served as a good catalyst for the latter part! Twas partially inspired by the Burning of Books and Burying of Scholars, an event said to be done by Qin Shin Huang, the first emperor of Unified China.
Anyhow, enough of my rambling. Thanks for reading!
I had never heard about the burning of scholars in China, makes the piece that much more interesting, haha! Can't wait to read the next part ;P

I know at this point not many teams have begun posting, but I honestly think this will be one of my favorite series/authors to come out of the contest. The different types of paper/stamp is a cool way to show the passage of time, and I loved all the emotions this piece summoned. This is also an extremely original take on the Magpies, and raises many questions about why the Magpies are antagonistic forces toward the Library when here they seem to want to escape to it here (of course assuming both sources on the Magpies are considered canon in this thought experiment)
Also: Why is the box gathering dust Maxy. Maxy. Come outside Maxy. I just wanna talk Maxy whyistheboxgatheringdust.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I've had fun writing for this author, so I'm happy to hear people like reading these tales. Also, glad you liked the paper/stamps. Wanted to give a unique look to the pieces, and it's been fun to draw/apply them.
As for the Magpies, there's some 'canonicity' to this, but I have to be honest; I've read one Magpie tale, so let's say it's 'semi-canon' for the time being, at least until I read more XD
As for the last part: Lost, long forgotten things tend to gather dust. (There might be an explanation/continuation to this and to the Magpie thing, but it won't be during this con, for there's other things that take priority. That could mean any continuation to this might not be through Tianhong's eyes, but that's something still under consideration.)
