I have to agree that this piece feels odd compared to the rest of the work: It's less surreal than the rest. That doesn't takes any value away, of course: I appreciate that feeling of being grounded, that things make more sense than usual, even if, at the same time, this much 'sense' feels almost antithetical to the author's theme.
Does this makes this article bad though? God no, it's a really good piece, with really interesting worldbuilding. It feels somewhat off, but it's still deserving of an upvote.
