Hello dear library guests. My name is Fable, and I bring you an adaptation of an old southern tale. What is this story, you ask?

Well in the south there exists a tale of a demon known as Rawhead and Bloody Bones. What you have here is an adaptation of several stories in Rawhead's legacy, alongside some newer elements of my own.

Thank you to MomBun for critting. This is another experimental, new style for me so I appreciate any and all eyes on it.

I like this! It feels very fable-y, in the same way old tales are told. I loved the progression of the piece, where misunderstanding leads to death and doom; again, very reminiscent of tales of old. Finally, the setting and characters, even if not deep, were fun to read.

Overall, it's a nice piece. +1~

I'm glad it read as an old fable, because that's exactly what it was designed to be! I wanted to recreate that old cadence and style. Like you said the characters aren't deep, but honestly I don't believe that they need to be for something like this. It's the visuals and rhythm in the end that the appeal comes from.

I was very surprised by this piece, I thought I knew pretty much exactly where it was going to go and then it just turned; I couldn’t have been anymore delighted to have this twist present itself. I also enjoy a good fable, so good job on that too!

This was a pretty enjoyable pastiche of classic fairytale style! There's some fun development of the relationship between the witch and the woman, and the twist is certainly a nice way to tie up the plot. That said, I think it'd be more enjoyable if the narration did a little more showing than telling. While I understand the style is part and parcel of classic fairytale storytelling, it does lead to a storytelling style that feels like it could be further developed. Additionally, the twist at the end felt a little rushed to me, and could have been served by a more drawn-out approach with a slower, more detailed description of the creation of the creature and, in particular, the description of the creature's return post-burial. I get that you were building this story with a particular style in mind, so I'm aware that you may really disagree with my thoughts.
