Big thanks to my collaborator Din-Bidor and once again our teammates KlausTheCloset and Seraphannim. This is the final piece in the connected story we planned for the Wandercon 2021 contest, and while technically it's already been opened up to others to contribute to, I'd just like to formally invite anyone to write for Duke! I'd love to see more standalone works with Duke, I might even write one myself some day in the future.
Man, where do I even begin
I'm 100% aware this is going to look soapy as all fuck, but fuck me, this piece is legit great, and the ending specially…It almost brough a tear to my eye, legit.
I really enjoy how Duke and R'lyek's dynamic evolved from the other tales to this one, and the ending specially I enjoyed so much because it showed a facet of Duke we never saw before: one where he's calm and enjoying himself instead of being erratic. That bit and also the part where he defended R'lyek when both were going to be fired I enjoyed due to that breaking character bit.
Overall, this was a great ending piece for the Duke saga, and I literally cannot wait to see what the character we made together evolves to. I legit couldn't wish for better teammates than you all, and for that I thank you. For everything you've brought.
Ah, look at that gap moe. Fuck, I love Duck so much.
A beautiful ending to an amazing series; I'm saddened that I hadn't read this piece before. I was missing on such a fun last adventure.
Can't wait to see Duke and R'lek again; definitely my favorite characters from wandercon. Might even try to write 'em someday…
For now though, a well-deserved +1~
"YOU GODSDAMNED CHITIN-FUCKER! YOU POSH KNOW-IT-ALL PIECE OF SHIT!"
Duke is amazing.
I've said all I could've said about how much I liked these pieces already, and Ik I'm incredibly late to the party, but this was a really beatiful ending, lizard man getting a moment to himself next to the last standing piece of the Moyoren puts a nice ribbon to Decadent and Depraved. I really wanna thank the team for bringing these stories (and characters) to life, Duke is set in stone as one of my favorites in the Library :')

Alright Shnap, you got me there :D
I would have absolutely believed Duke was mad about the foundation of his angry writing being undermined by R'leks actions. Would have been the final step to portraying this lizard as a morron, while R'lek is a high-class journalist. But this characterization - pathological though it may be - also works very nicely. Duke just can't help himself. But he cares. And he has principles he sticks to. And drugs sticking to him I guess.
Great writing to be found here again as well. My favorite part has to be: "now it reads like any of my own fucking weekends!"
Great conclusion for the series!
All the best

As a Furry, I also appreciate the bartender being an anthro wolf a lot
