God, alright, seems I managed to write something for this one! Wasn't sure if I'd write something for the Contest, but here we are.

So, credit where credit's due: First, all images were drawn by me~

Second, the first half is a bit of a tribute/reference to Sole Singularity, because the team was really cool and, well, when you're writing the apocalypse, better take a note from some really good entries into that sort of end-of-the-days content, yeah?

Third, SCP-6000 was a partial inspiration for the second half, so I'll credit it as well. I mean, hard not to think about it when the theme's Rebirth, ya know?

Finally, this isn't exactly about Tianhong, but… It sort of is as well. At the very least, none of the characters are her. Guess it's a sort of uh, spin-off? Yeah, something like that.

Anyhow, this was a lot of fun- Hell, all I've written and read here has been. I'm so very glad I found this place and I'm also glad that it has gotten over 1000 entries! Here's to a 1000 more~

I have a bit of mixed feelings on this… I think the core premise of what you're doing is interesting, and the writing is strong, but I think it could be tightened up a lot. I felt like there was a tendency to repeat itself and some stretches that didn't really move the story forward, especially at the beginning. Still, I'll upvote.

I fully agree that there are some really rough parts on this piece, especially around the first half. Truth be told, I will most likely not have the time to keep working on the piece until after the contest's over, and having it sit any more time was starting to bring unsolicited stress so I decided to post it as is. I do wanna revise it once I have the time to do so.

I agree with rum that the first half was a little too slow, but I still really enjoyed this. I love the solemn/reverent tone the Tianhong (I know this isn’t Tianhong but shh same style) stories have, and this one is no different. +1

I was going to comment on the parallels with SCP-6000 until I read your author post and saw that you did it for me, haha. I'm flattered - and doubly so because the story surrounding it is so good! I broadly agree that the pacing is a little bottom-heavy, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of it. I imagine you took quite a bit of inspiration from the excerpt on the contest page and it shows. The vibes are very strong, accentuated by your prose — I've always felt it's pretty difficult to emulate the grandiose, sometimes-redundant style of writing you see in really old fables and religious stories but you absolutely nailed it. It really did feel like I was reading an old (un)creation story. Very nice.
