I hope whoever reads this feels something, even if just for a moment.

For anyone wondering, this story is directly based on the Ancient Greek love story, Daphnis and Chloe, by Longus.

I'm proud and happy to post my first story to a community for which I have had a tremendous respect for a long time, along with its members. Thank you for reading, and please enjoy:)

Wow, what a first post! Your prose is gorgeous (albeit purple at times) and the worldbuilding is immense: somehow both dreamlike and real at the same time. I really enjoyed the enigmatic narrator, as well as the character of The Navigator and the setting they found themselves in.

I'm not going to pretend I understood the plot (which gives me all the more reason to reread!), but it didn't feel nonsensical, rather, it felt extremely purposeful - you've clearly put effort into developing this world beyond just the glimpses we get in this story. And the poetry… is just beautiful, really. Managing to pack so much imagery into this story, and have an engaging narrative, whilst also structuring two parallel sections which merge at the end is impressive, to say the least.

Seriously, amazing stuff. I hope more people read this, and I look forward to what you write in the future!

lol had to look up what "purple prose" is…is that telling? Couldn't be telling…

This is wonderful! Evokes feelings of Mortal Engines, with its colossal vehicle and interesting role system.

Not much else to say. Your prose is wonderful, and makes this piece's imagery very clear. The plot isn't messy, but it is complicated. Once I have time to digest this work, I may comment on it further with an edit to this post.

A really interesting story: Although I dont quite understand the connection between Chloe and Daphnis and the rest of the story, it was written really well. I enjoyed this sort of maze you put me through as this person goes meet the Captain, traversing through the ship, to this quiet, simple ending of the Captain resting amidst the pasture. Really interesting prose.

I absolutely love the way you write, but like everyone else here I don’t have any clue where to start parsing this one out and figuring out what it means, would love to talk to you about it tbh, but it’s really cool, I can say that. I think I enjoyed the end the most, it felt very calming after the chaos of the rest, and the easiest to somewhat understand (lol).

Holy crap I have no fucking clue what's going on in this and I am so here for it.

I had to check to believe that this was your first post on the site — this is stellar. The prose here is dense and dreamlike without becoming tiresome or boring, at least for me. It really does have that sort of fever-dreamlike logic to it — you can see the strings connecting everything, but there's… a je ne sais quoi to it.

Anyway. It's great, is my point. The difficulty in understanding any of it only adds to that sense of sleepwalking — I think explaining any of it (in the text, anyway) would've undercut the mood and atmosphere this is absolutely drenched in. Intercutting the story with the poem was also a nice touch to break apart the otherwise-overwhelming passages. Very big fan of this, very excited to see what else you continue to put out on the Library.
