Changing the colors?

Thinking about making a green edit, but the amount of "R, G, B" fields to fill in are causing me to feel like I'm in over my head. How are we supposed to know which part of the theme each of those lines affect?
First time editing a theme, btw.

edit: There doesn't seem to be an effective way to change the color of OnceUponATimeLogo.psd's page edges and spine/center (layers 4,1,5) in Photopea without simultaneously changing the HERE layers. Is the website just too limited to do it and we'll just have to use Photoshop, or are those colors effectively untouchable?
For anyone else wondering, I opened the OnceUponATimeLogo.psd in GIMP and noticed a significant limitation on what was even visible in the image.

The text BENEATH each variable in the comments (IE, /*The things that look like this*/) tell you exactly which color you're changing on the page. If you're having trouble finding the RGB values of the colors you want to use themselves, I'd suggest using this site.

I think I MIGHT know what you're doing wrong in Photopea? The layer for the page color is actually the layer directly BENEATH the HERE layer, not the HERE layer itself. Just click the lock next to it to unlock the layer, I didn't really count on anyone wanting to change page color. It works perfectly fine for me when I do that. I'd also suggest making a layer ABOVE the layer you want to change and turning that into a clipping layer to change layer colors for Photopea. The gradient lock that normally enables just using the here layer does not seem to work in that program.

Wow, that clears so much up. o.o
Just tested out the color changes on my sandbox page and~ it ain't workin'. :| Removing the space between the RGB #'s didn't help. What am I doing wrong?
I'm assuming "gold" is the font color, btw.

Hopefully I understood you, because I'm gonna clarify for others reading this and hopefully make things easy to understand for Header PSD file.psd:

+ image of my layer changes

I renamed the layers accordingly and added clipping layers above the ones I wanted to change.

Just click the lock next to it to unlock the layer

I noticed unlocking the layers was less convenient than just using the Paint Bucket Tool on the new clipping layer, so I left 'em be. Not sure if that's what you meant for me to do, though, considering your next suggestion. >.>

The one bothersome part of this process, after understanding how to do it, was not being able to use the PBT on OnceUponATimeLogo.psd's backline/edge layers (4 & 5). Had to grab the Brush Tool. T-T

edit: Is it okay to change the file names before uploading them? And leave unedited color changes on the page source?

The page colors are working for me, is something still wrong with it that I'm not seeing? And yup! you can change the name and leave the unedited color changes on the page source if you'd like, they don't affect anything, really.

I started experimenting some hours ago and noticed what the problem was. In some places, "—" is used instead of "—" (- and -). Both are treated the same by my browser's Find tool, but the former nulls the line (and this post's preview is showing them both as the former).

Got a few new questions for you:

1. How do you change tab's body background color, active tab color, inactive tab color, and active tab's text color.
2. Is there a way that I should go about releasing my green edit of your theme? I've changed way more than I honestly needed to (and probably will again in a day or so >.>), so I mightest well release it as a theme.

edit: While I'm at it, do you have the PSD files for the other images? It'd make my color changes a lot easier to be able to apply a specific RGB to them instead of using GIMP's Rotate Colors feature to get it close. Discovered GIMP's Colorize feature a bit ago, so nevermind.
edit2: Is there a limit to what fonts I can use?
edit3: What's causing the text color (bright-accent) to be altered? I set it to white, but it looks like a darkened off-white.

I'm not certain what you mean by the tab body's background color but you can find all the selectors for CSS with the inspect element option on your browser. That is getting into more advanced CSS, though. For both of those questions, I'd honestly suggest asking these questions in the official Discord's help channel. I'm not in charge of publishing themes and you need a mod to sign off on anything you want to publish.

Fonts, like images, need to be compatible with CC-BY-SA. Google fonts that are under the open font license work.

Also it's pure white to me when I put it dropper tool it in an editing software. That's just an illusion of color theory but you can probably counteract that by making it slightly blue-ish if you want.

Just scrolled through it a bit after right-clicking an active tab. Feel like I'm gonna need to dedicate time to digging through all of that tomorrow or something. The parts I searched for in the theme's code weren't popping up, and there's tons that could be it.

Fun fact, I asked on the Discord's help channel a day ago and got nothin'. 🤷🏿‍♂️ The conversation moved on to something else today, so I'm gonna assume people just don't know the answer to any of my questions. :|

Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping there wouldn't be extra steps tbh. -_- Adjusting your themes is quite tiring, so maybe that's why there are so few. 🤔

I don't fully understand the first sentence, but it turns out the online tool (rgbcolorcode)was bugged when "#FFFFFF" was pasted in and I should've left out the first character. >.>
