This is a great theme!

I have just a couple of criticisms of it:

• The text colour on both the footnotes-footer and page-tags wrappers don't have the best contrast against the red background, causing it to clash somewhat. I'm thinking something lighter would work better — an off-white, mayhaps?
• The login-status and search-top-box are a bit difficult to parse over-top the newspaper banner. This probably isn't as important, but I thought it necessary to mention nonetheless. I think you could adjust at least login-status by putting that element inside a box, masking it from the banner?
