I like the glimse into what magic can do in this setting; the descriptions of the magical assassin's tools was my favorite part.
Gorgons' ability to turn people to stone seems like something that would make others suspicious of, or at least wary around them. Something that everyday people might accept with a degree of caution, as one might act around a person carrying a gun in public (at least in the US, lol). Are there limitations to that power? Are individual Gorgon's work identifiable by some feature or marking of the stone, making it possible to connect a victim to their killer? What about protections against the effect, either magical or mundane, do they exist, and how reliable are they? I would expect crime bosses to take some greater means to protect themselves, while still trying to recruit someone they see as a valuable weapon. I think that could make an interesting story, or addition to this one: the details of how Kiran convinced the rival boss to trust her, and how she subverted his attempts to protect himself and still made it out alive.
