London. My city. My body-outside-of-mine. My cold, filthy, shining god. The residue of thousands of years of decay and growth. Untouchable birthright of all who come to it.

There's a really good Portuguese café just by Vauxhall station though, come up the stairs and go right a bit, it's under the railway bridge. Best pastries you'll get in the city.

Wonderful depiction of being tethered to a place; and thus, an identity — however unseemly that place may be. Great work. This is real, this is smog and dust and concrete. I love your work.

I've lived in London my whole life but I've never considered myself a Londoner, for whatever reason. And before reading this poem, I'd never thought about my relationship to this place; if it's simply the city or if it's my city. Given me a lot to think about.

As an ex-londoner, this really speaks to me. Other places are home to me now, but there's something about the big smoke that never leaves you. The way you describe the feeling of existing in something bigger than yourself and the relationship that we have with it is excellent.

Huh. Such an interesting way to go about that sense of belonging to a place, or, I suppose 'belonging' isn't the right word. NotAnOligarch uses 'tethered', and I think that fits perfectly the cold and powerful feel I get from this piece. +1
