Losing Control

The story's main point is that a guy lives in the future where everyone's lives are controlled. (due to an event I can't think of) he wants to take control of his life. He takes control of his car and ends up crashing it because he doesn't know how to drive.

I have the basic planed out but cant decide on the event. I also want to know if the idea is good enough for a tale.

That's a pretty cool idea, reminds me of some Orson Scott Card short stories I've read. You could try having a world government or superintelligent AI in charge of the whole world, and they/it decided that manually controlled cars (among other things) are far too dangerous to be allowed to continue to exist. I've had to learn the hard way to "show, don't tell" the reader what is going on in your universe, and that's especially important when writing sci-fi and speculative fiction. Your character is the most important thing in your story, and the world is just the place that made him the semi-rebellious person he is. You could do a lot with this idea if you're careful about that.
