Had this idea while high off my ass at Cabos San Lucas (gentrify me harder, gringo). Went whale-watching, smoked some weed, and listened to The Marriage of Coyote Woman by All Them Witches.

Niparaya is the chief god of the Pericú peoples of what is today Cabos San Lucas, whose identity and language were tragically wiped out by the Spaniards. Here's to keeping your memory with us, exalted one.

Even having no knowledge of the mythology that inspired this, I found this story to be one of my most captivating reads on the Library yet. I just love sweet little love storys like this.

when mythology and folktale are done right, they hit so damn hard, and this absolutely is done right. the phrasing and style are absolutely top-notch perfect. the story is engrossing and emotional. it nails that sense of magic and wonder that the best folklore engenders. beautifully written and engaging — engrossing. can't speak highly enough of this one. i think it's a treasure. something wonderful. +1

This is absolutely incredible. I love folklore and myths and you did a phenomenal job telling a mythical tale with this piece . For me, what makes this narrative really sing is all the whimsical details like the bighorn sheep being the priest and the bridesmaid being a sting ray. If you are inspired to write more about Coyote Woman in the future, I am here for it. Easy +1

There exists some constants in this world, cliche enough that I won't name them, but I'm adding "Din writing banger mythology / folklore" onto the list because you did it again you bastard. Romance isn't typically something I find myself endeared to, but this one got me, especially the ending moments on the beach. +1, again and again.
