"There's too many things that I haven't done yet
There's too many sunsets I haven't seen
You can't waste the day wishing it'd slow down
You would've thought by now
I'd have learned something…"

Of plodding down railroad tracks in the Oregon dust and heat and drinking, trading blows and fragments of long-suppressed memory down at the river. This is something that was quite a long, long time coming—a River Canon and Asphalt, Steel and Stories tale that had been written and sat idle in my sandbox for almost two whole years, from August 2022 to summer 2024, only receiving sporadic revisions within the period. Needless to say, it should have had dropped much earlier if not for other, pressing mental health things that put the thing on a hold. With fresh eyes, further revisions and the advent of summer Shebang, I feel it’s roadworthy. Thank you to Stygian Blue and
LAN 2D for critting this back in late 2022 and
zipzipskins for a second review for Shebang season.
Oh, how beautiful broken glass is, rendered smooth and satin in the water…
