The Return of Dominic LeGrande (feat: Din-Bidor)

You know him, you love him, it's Dominic LeGrande, back for another adventure full of grit, intrigue, and in this case, indigenous Mexican mythology. Of course, I couldn't have done this without my friend and equal collaborator Din-Bidor. It was a joy to write this and mix two different authorial perspectives into something new. Make sure to read Din's stuff too, every piece of his is a treasure.

i'm not familiar with this character, but i enjoyed this a lot. the writing is characteristically lovely, and having dominic unravel the layers of this conflict as an outsider works really well. having the creature come back and massacre the village at the end feels narratively and thematically unnecessary, and it kind of puts a damper on the whole thing for me, but this is still a solid entry on balance.

Once again proving that Dominic has a chokehold on me. The steps into mythology like murky water in the story is wonderful, especially with Dominic now a myth of some form himself. The weight of the times and rhetoric is unfettered, true to form. I'll agree with Uncanny that ending with the town being massacred feels a little off, but it's not nearly enough to make me turn on the piece (and I wouldn't go so far as to describe it as a "damper on the whole piece", more a hiccup.) Excellent stuff you two.

My personal highlight:

He muttered a halfhearted plea for forgiveness before snapping the lock in two with a blow from the stock of his revolver. A poor man’s Moses, but beggars can’t be choosers.
