Can't decide what I think of this. It's not bad, and I like the gods of money concept. But the ruler guy is a walking cliche, and so is the entire setting besides the god, so it's hard to care about what's going on, and interest is diminished… Hm.
Eh, it is kind of cliched. As I said, I wrote this a while ago. But the point isn't the ruler, it's the concept. Which, granted, could probably have been in a better context.
Incidentally, is the Codex a reasonable place to put this?
Well done. I am pleased to see this with a proper home.
I'll be honest, I had no clue there'd be such a need for so many violence warnings when I started this journey, and I'm not even a full week's worth of reviews into it. That being said, this is an interesting exploration into the damages caused by excess by those in power. I do feel as though this story would benefit from more imagery, but it maintains a consistent tone and tells a short, powerful fable. The fact that the embodiment of a currency, a literal god of money, is a dragon is quite fitting. Overall, much like virtually every story reviewed so far, worth five minutes of a reader's time, if a little ham-handed.
I honestly feel the opposite of Agent Mac's review in a way—some of the imagery is overdone in areas where it is not needed, and it is lacking in other areas. I would've liked this more if there was more care put into it.
This is amazing! The concept was really interesting. I loved how the mood smoothly turned in that one sentence describing how secure the door of the bedroom is.
