Now that we've started talking about creating video and audio articles on the site (and since it's always useful to have a repository of sources), I thought it apt to create a thread to this effect. Essentially, what I want is for anyone who's found a useful site or group of sites for research, or for obtaining files related to whatever entry they're writing, to make a link of that site here. That way, we can build up a list of the really helpful, but perhaps difficult to find, sources.
I'll start off with a couple good free stock footage archives;
- Mr. Footage — http://stock.mrfootage.com/ — This is mostly recorded video, as opposed to set up — event footage, wars, fires, wildlife, etc. There's a bit of camera-shakiness, but if you want something that looks like it was actually from real life, this is definitely relevant.
- X Stock Video — http://www.xstockvideo.com/ — This one requires you to register, but all the clips here are free if you take the non-HD resolution (which is usually about 960 x 540). Mostly professional, studio-filmed videos and pictures — the animals are shot against a white background, for example. All quite high-quality filming.
- Freesound — http://www.freesound.org/ — This is an extensive, but non-discriminatory archive of sound. The sample you're looking for is probably here, but you might have to troll through it a bit.
