Game of Words

Today, I learned a brand new word,
The likes of which I've never heard.
It rings in my ears like a song,
"Happy," I say, singing along.

A dance amid the sun in the morn,
Its warmth by laughter shall be borne.
The embrace of its joyous ways
Has me in an ecstatic daze.

Alongside "happy," I have learned
Something wondrous, what "happy" earns.
As you shine like the noon-time sun,
"Smile," in my mind is rung.

Today I learned a brand new word,
The likes of which I've never heard.
It rings in my ears like a song,
"Wind," I say, mimicking my god.

A gentle push to get you there,
An embrace of the chilly air.
Whisp'ring in your ears, a song
Beckoning you to dance along.

Following the breeze I found a place,
Where when I looked down I saw my face
The god gestured all while he sang,
"Water," while I knelt and drank

Today, I learned a brand new word,
The likes of which I've never heard.
It rings in my ears like a song,
"Friend," I say, laughing along.

My god had seven children, then.
Through them, his will had been spread.
A joyous bunch, we sang along,
To Time's ever-repeating song

The sixth of seven came to me
As I was in a deep sleep.
He showed me his newly born world,
"Dream," he named it as I explored.

Today, I learned a brand new word,
The likes of which I've never heard.
It rings in my ears like a song,
"Love," I say, standing among gods.

While I myself am not one,
My birth marked when creation begun.
I watched the world take its form.
I watched as this universe was born.

Still, many words can be learned
As the threads of time are turned.
I know not how to tell how I feel
I know not how to tell what is real.

And so I'll continue my game,
"Wordplay," as it has been named.

Today I learned a brand new word,
The likes of which I've never heard.
It corrupts those that I hold dear,
"Lie," I whisper, now knowing fear.

Venom drips from the Mother's tongue,
Her harsh words blacken the morning sun
Like a spider, she spins her web of lies,
Laughing as our world dies.

The seven do what they do best
Acting in our god's behest
Under the raging sun of noon,
Blood painted grass, and I learned "wound."

Today I learned a brand new word,
The likes of which I wish I never heard.
It corrupts those that I hold dear,
"Sin," I parrot, as the end draws near.

Wrath painting the Firstborn's face,
She told me then: "I'm a disgrace."
By her hand, six had been slain,
By her own hand, she was her siblings' bane.

But that hand was, in truth, tied
By the one who spun the web of lies
Actions forced, The blood that had stained,
Was not on the great Firstborn's name.

So in that wrath, she took her Staff,
And in the Mother's face, did the Firstborn laugh
In that moment, I knew what she meant
When she said there'd be "punishment."

Today I learned a brand new word,
The likes of which I wish I never heard.
It corrupts those that I hold dear,
"Malice," I mouth, as the end draws near.

The Firstborn looked up towards the sky,
Knowing how her death was nigh.
She turned to me, and then I knew
The darkness the Mother did brew.

Six of seven now lie dead,
For by the Mother, they were misled
The Firstborn acted as the judge
Though in the end, she held no grudge.

In this time, I slowly learned,
There are answers I don't even yearn
But I need them, so I'll play my game.
"Wordplay," as it has been named.

In that time, I lost my life,
Amidst the Firstborn and Mother's strife.
I wish I could describe my pain,
But without the words, the effort's in vain.

But stranger, now, before you go,
There is something I want you to know.
While we have fallen and met our end,
There's still ways to go for you, my friend.

My final request, before you leave:
Continue my Wordplay; do not grieve,
For I'll be here until the end,
Watching close over you, my friend.
