this pain is somebody's fault.
trapped in the unreal city,
watched from every window,
body covered in scars,
head full of wildfire smoke,
i strain against my shackles
to no avail. i will
never get to them up there,
up in their glass towers,
whoever they are.
in my domain, free
at last to stretch, i have never
known a wingspan like this, and you
can take it. you are a safe one; you can
disappear into the fog like
a turtle. all i know
are these searing eyes, this
blackened flesh. who are you
to judge me?
stand before me at my full height.
disappear into the shadow of my fangs.
